Oakland Press Sound Check: Opening DTE is still “Paradise” for Eddie Money

Opening the DTE Energy Music Theatre season has become a tradition that Eddie Money doesn’t take for granted.

“It’s my biggest show of the year, come on!,” says Money, 66, who’s played the first show at DTE/Pine Knob 23 of the past 24 years with a litany of rock radio hits such as “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Baby Hold On,” “Shakin’” and “Take Me Home Tonight.”

“It’s really great that it happened like that. It just happened, and I love it. I love playing DTE.”
